Sheltering under the Flamborough Head, Bridlington's wide expanse of sands bisected by the harbour around which stands the modern town. The old town is to be found a mile inland and centres on the 13th century church of St Mary. To the north the cliffs of Flamborough Head form the centrepiece of the Heritage Coast that stretches to Filey Bay.
